Privacy and cookies
What this site keeps about you, how its advertising partner Google uses cookies, and how to refuse personalised ads. In plain words.
At a glance
- Account
- None. You never sign in and never give your name.
- What you type
- Stays in your browser. A quote request leaves from your own mailbox.
- Cookies
- Advertising cookies set by Google, as explained below.
- Your choice
- Refuse personalised ads at any time in Google's Ads Settings.
What is stored in your browser
The guide has no account, no newsletter and no contact form. Two small settings are saved in your browser's local storage so the site opens the way you left it. They are never sent to the server.
| Name | What it holds | How long |
|---|---|---|
mig.lang | The language you chose | Until you clear your browser data |
mig.sel | The boxes you ticked in Find what you need | Until you untick them or clear your browser data |
The calculators, the questionnaire and the quote request all work inside your browser. When you press the email button on the quotes page, your own email app opens with the text ready. The message goes from your mailbox to the people you choose, and this site never receives it.
What the server records
Like every website, the server that hosts the guide writes each request in a technical log: the IP address, the date and time, the page asked for, the page you came from and the type of browser. The log is used to keep the site secure and working and to count visits. It is not used to build a profile of you, and it is not sold or shared, except where the law requires it.
The fonts, images and video are served from this site. Reading a page contacts no other site, apart from the advertising described below.
Advertising and cookies
The guide is free to read because it shows advertising. The ads are selected and served by Google AdSense, not by the guide.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or to other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- Google and its partners also use cookies and similar identifiers to count how often an ad is shown, to measure its results and to detect fraud.
- Other advertising networks certified by Google may serve ads through AdSense and use cookies in the same way. They are listed in the consent message, where one is shown.
Google explains what it does with this information in How Google uses information from sites that use its services. Its full policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
How to refuse personalised ads
- In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. A consent message from a platform certified by Google asks for your choice before any advertising cookie is used. You can accept, refuse, or choose purpose by purpose and partner by partner, and change your mind later from the settings link the message leaves on the page.
- Everywhere, including in Morocco. Turn off personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings. You will still see ads, but they will be based on the page you are reading, not on your past browsing.
- Other advertising companies. Many let you opt out in one place, at aboutads.info or, in Europe, at youronlinechoices.eu.
- Your browser. You can block or delete cookies in its settings. The guide works fully without them. If you also clear local storage, it forgets the language you chose.
Your rights
Morocco's law 09-08 on the protection of personal data gives you the right to be informed, to access the data held about you, to have it corrected and to object to its use for legitimate reasons. Visitors in the European Union also have the rights given by the GDPR, including erasure, and can complain to their national data protection authority.
Because there is no account, the guide holds almost nothing that identifies you. What you set is in your own browser, and clearing your browser data erases it. About the server log, write to the address on the legal notice page. About advertising data, use Google's tools above: Google decides how that data is used and may process it outside Morocco, including in the United States.
In Morocco, complaints about personal data go to the CNDP, the national commission for the protection of personal data: cndp.ma.
